A clone is born from a womb of mesh and metal and plastic.

A clone is born without a father or mother or a family or any semblance of inheritance.

A clone is born just as any other clone is born. Every clone born this way is born into death.

A clone is born in the dark and will live in the dark and will die in the dark.

None of these things matter to those who birth the clones. To them, a clone is nothing more than a pig to be slaughtered.

None of these things matter to a clone. A clone is born into a sleep it will never wake up from. A clone is a body born without a mind.

None of these things matter to us either.

-Poem by August Rose Williams, John Llewellyn Rhys Prize Recipient.

The Wonderful August Rose Williams.

The above poem by Williams is the rawest portrayal of the life of a clone I have read. Most clones are born in what should be called a factory. These factories will house thousands of clones packed cramped and tight in freezing temperatures. Clones are stuffed with tubes that provide nutrients to every part that can be donated. Clones are born and immediately recieve a crude operation (done nowadays completely mechanically) that will render them braindead from the moment they are born. Once the clones have reached a mature age their organs are removed as quickly (and, ironically, as healthy) as possible within a period of months. Then a clone is disposed of and a new clone will take its place.

Recently, there have been a number of projects designed to "improve" the lives of clones. These projects raise the clones in a segregated life where they will recieve a rudimentary education and live the normal life of a child, till, eventually, the time comes they are called to donate their organs just as every one of their kin will. I do not believe these efforts do anything more than dress a pig up in satin and lace. The industry of cloning is the problem and these projects do not address the root of the clone problem.

One of the schools established for a new clone upbringing.

There are many different original clones to address every blood type and health issue and personal element of the reciever.

These clones are not raised to believe there is any life other than the one they are born into. Several clones have clandestinely been smuggled out of the UK to live a full life but these efforts are akin to the clone schooling projects in that they address the symptoms but not the root cause. I believe the only way to address the root cause is to push legislators to phase out the clone program as a whole.
